Kipchoge: “I want to run more marathons”

Date:

The Kenyan Eliud Kipchogedouble Olympic marathon champion, has revealed that, despite the disappointment that his last participation in the Paris Games left him, from which he withdrew, his goal is to run “a few more” although not in an Olympic event.

After experiencing his “worst marathon” at the Paris Olympic Games, Kipchoge, double Olympic champion of that event at Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020, continued training six weeks after that race in search of new motivations for the future.

“I resumed training three weeks ago but I was very slow. I wanted to reach maximum performance little by little and then try to advance slowly. I had to take some time to adjust, to see what’s going on, to get back into the swing of things and move forward. It was hard but I think I’m doing well,” said Kipchoge, who is not thinking about retirement yet.

“I want to run more marathons,” insisted the Kenyan, who is not expected to participate in another Olympic event in Los Angeles 2028.

“All stories are about quitting when you’re on top. I want to sell a new story and when I finish I will step into something else related to running and continue to inspire and unite the world again through running,” said the Kenyan athlete in an interview with ‘Olympics ‘.

None of his plans, for now, is to become a coach when he retires.

“I will do something else instead of being a coach. “I don’t feel like I fit in the training world,” he concluded.
