Historic! England, no Manchester United players

Date:

The decrease of Kobbie Mainoowith a physical problem, made England’s squad for the Nations League matches against Greece and Finland the first without Manchester United players since 1976.

Along with Mainoo they fell down the list Ezra Konsa who picked up a hamstring injury in Aston Villa’s goalless draw against Manchester United on Sunday, and Morgan Gibbs-White, who was also injured on Sunday when he attempted to shoot in the 1-1 draw between Nottingham Forest and Chelsea.

Carsley didn’t call anyone

Lee Carsley England’s interim coach will stick with a squad of 22 players and will not call up any substitute players.

England, who won their first two matches at Carsley against Finland and the Republic of Ireland, face Greece at Wembley this Thursday and, three days later, Finland in Helsinki.
