Pogacar is already thinking about Lombardy: “It’s a perfect season, but it’s not over yet”

Date:

The Slovenian Tadej Pogacarwinner of this year’s Tour de France and the Giro d’Italia with UAE Team Emirates, will seek his fourth consecutive title in Tour of Lombardy (October 12) to match Fausto Coppi, who won four times in a row the test between 1946 and 1949 although he was later awarded the test in 1954 as well.

Pogacar, who is also world champion in 2024, hopes to win a trophy in Lombardy which, if it happens, will be the first time a cyclist has won the rainbow jersey since Italian Paolo Bettini won in 2006 .

The Slovenian, who just won the Giro de Emilia, will be joined in the race by a team made up of the Swiss. Jan Christen and Marc Hirschi, the new zealand Finn Fisher Blackthe Polish Rafal Majkathe French Pavel Sivakov and the british Adam Yates.

“The first race in the colors of the rainbow is something special. The Giro de Emilia is always a race that avoids me but I was happy to win there last weekend. The form is still very good and I want to give one last push today for Lombardy“said Pogacar, in statements released by his team.

“It’s been a perfect season for us this year. The whole team has worked really hard and things have really gone well for us. I will definitely remember this year as a truly special time. But it’s not over yet and we want it to end well and with a good result in my last race of the season in Lombardy,” he concluded.
