The Japanese Mao Saigo signed a card of 65 strokes this Saturday to, with -7, become the leader after three rounds of the Buick LPGA Shanghai.
It was his second consecutive round of 65 strokes. Saigo, who is 18 strokes behind, is seeking her first LPGA Tour victory. He surpassed the Chinese Ruoning Yin by one stroke, scoring 63 strokesthe lowest round of the day at Qizhong Garden Golf Club.
South Korea’s Sei Young Kim, who led the first two rounds, shot a 69 and was three ahead in Sunday’s final round. Kim debuted with a 62 in the first round, the lowest score of the tournament.
American Yealimi Noh, with 68 strokes, is also within a short distance of the leaders. Six other players are within seven shots in a very tight group.
Two of the best players on the LPGA, Nelly Korda and Lydia Ko are not participating this week. Both will participate next week in the BMW Ladies Championship in South Korea.
