Injuries grew by 32% last season in LaLiga

This reflects that during the 2023/24 season, 4,123 injuries were recorded in the five main men’s European leagues: Italy, Germany, France, Spain and England. This represents an increase of 4% compared to the 2022-2023 season, while the total value of these damages reached 732.02 million euros. It also represents an increase of 5% in terms of cost compared to the previous season. The average number of injuries is around 43%.

Furthermore, in the last four seasons, clubs in the top five men’s European leagues have suffered a total of 14,292 injuries, which means a huge burden of 2.3 billion euros in costs that have come from them.

And then there is the particular scenario of LaLiga The Spanish 2023-2024 season recorded the biggest increase in injuries with a total of 862, 32% more than the previous season. This places it, according to this report, in the third most injury-prone competition among the major European men’s leagues. In the previous season it experienced a growth of 17% compared to the 2021-2022 season where they decreased up to 23% or in the 2020-2021 season that showed a reduction of 35%.

Girona, the team with the least injuries in Spain
