The Professional Soccer League (LFP) this Sunday condemned the homophobic chants sung by the most radical fans of PSG on Saturday, in the match between the French team and the Strasbourg. This body will refer these incidents to the disciplinary commission should they occur allowed.
In its statement, the League described “unacceptable” these chants and emphasizes the fact that “the entirety of professional football has been working for years to clean up states of behavior and chants” of this nature.
The events reported occurred on Saturdayat the Parc des Princes, with Ultras of the Auteuil Grandstand as great protagonists. Those who received the songs were Olympique de Marseille, where PSG will compete Classic of France on October 27 at the Vélodrome.
The ultras reserved some 10 minutes to sing the denounced cries, while the majority of the public present in the stadium, as well as the ‘speaker’ through the public address system (on two occasions) did not agree with his attitude and tried to stop the singing.
That happens PSG was sanctioned last season for these types of behavior. On that occasion, the LFP ordered the closure of the area occupied by the Ultras during one match, leaving open the possibility of extending the closure to a second match in the event of a recurrence.
From Government Voices of condemnation were also heard in France, as in the Minister of Sports and the Secretary of State for Citizenship and the Fight against Discrimination. Both have announced that they will maintain a meeting with the president of the LFP in finding a definitive solution to end these attitudes.
Luis Enrique Martinez, The Paris Saint Germain coach was asked about these incidents in the press conference after the match. The former Spanish national coach gave a laconic answer “I don’t know anything”.
