The American Tommy Paul13th in the world, dominated the Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov (10th) in two sets (6-4 and 6-3) to win the ATP 250 Stockholm Open on Sunday, his third trophy of the season.
Paul, 27, took the first set with three breaks of serve, and then relied on his serve to win the second set with three consecutive serves.
It’s an unprecedented return to his roots for the New Jersey native, who won his only ATP tournament before this season in the Swedish capital in 2021.
Paul became the fourth Tour player to win at least three trophies this season, following his triumphs at the ATP 250 in Dallas in February and the ATP 500 in Queens in June.
The American now has four Top 10 players in his sights in 2024 after Casper Ruud, Daniil Medvedev and Hubert Hurkacz.
