Usain Bolt has revealed the most important advice he’s been given in his career

The fastest man in the world has some very interesting advice for sports training, but also for life in general. Usain Boltin a recent podcast appearance High Performanceshared the learning that opened all his successes on a human and sports level, in an episode of more than an hour full of interesting and useful anecdotes.

He former Jamaican athlete, winner of eight Olympic gold medals in tartan and holder of the world record in the 100 meter dash, would like to thank the words of Glen Mills, one of his coaches, when he was just beginning his most legendary career. “You have to learn to lose before you learn to win,” said the famous coach to a teenage Bolt.

“It took me a while to understand. Why do I have to learn to lose? Then I understood what he wanted to tell me… Everyone fails, but when you fail, what do you learn? That’s what he wanted to convey to me. When I lost, I started to wonder about my mistakes, about how to improve in some aspects. Failure brings you closer to victory.”he explained.

“Yes you can be honest in defeatand you say, ‘okay, I didn’t train hard enough, I didn’t do enough research, I didn’t rest enough.’ Next time, you’ll do those things better. This way you keep climbing until you reach the top.”Bolt added in his speech.

Being surrounded by trustworthy people, people who tell you things and also help you get up after life’s blows, is another important factor in the opinion of the legendary athlete.

Usain Bolt first trained as a 200-meter specialist, but his coach played an important role in developing Bolt’s explosive power for the 100 meters. This change in training allowed Bolt to achieve a breakthrough in the shortest distance, setting a world record for 9.58 seconds in 100 meters in 2009a record that, to this day, remains unbeaten.

Bolt became the seventh athlete in history to win Olympic gold in the 100m and 200m at Beijing 2008 Gamesa feat he repeated in London 2012 and Rio 2016. This incredible feat he did the only athlete to achieve the “treble” in the same speed event in three consecutive Olympic Games.

bolts, 38 years oldofficially retired after competing in the World Athletics Championships in 2017where he achieved bronze in the 100 meter dash, his final individual event. In the 4×100 relay, he suffered a muscle injury 50 meters from the finish line, limping and struggling for the last time in his career.

In 2018, he briefly explored a career in professional football, joining the Sailors on the Central Coast of Australia for a while, showing his sporting versatility even after his illustrious track and field career.
