Cameron Norrie and Benjamin Bonzi will play in the ATP final in Metz

Date:

The British Cameron Norrie and the french Benjamin Bonzi They will play the final of the Metz tournament after winning, respectively, as well as the Frenchman Corentin Moutet and the American Alex Michelsen.

Norrie won 6-2 and 7-6(5) in an hour and a half and again came close to victory. The eighth player in the world in 2022 will face his fifteenth final, the first in 2024, to capture the sixth trophy of his career, the first since he won in Rio de Janeiro in 2023.

The Briton, now ranked 57th in the ATP rankings and a finalist at the Indian Wells Masters 1000 in 2021, did not give the local player the option to progress, albeit not enough, in the second round.

Norrie will face Benjamin Bonzi in the final, returning from his duel with fellow Frenchman Alex Michelsen who failed to take another step closer to the first title of his career. Bonzi, 124 in the ATP ranking, won 4-6, 6-0 and 7-5 in two hours, in the first meeting between the two.

Bonzi faces a third attempt to inaugurate his story. He lost in the finals in Marseille, against the Polish Hubert Hurckac, and Pune, against the Dutch Tallon Griekspoor, who played last year and now faces Norrie, whom he has not faced until now.
