Levante was eliminated in the first round of the Copa del Rey lost this Tuesday in Pasarón against Pontevedra (4-1) in a poor performance by the Valencian team, who played more than seventy minutes outnumbered and ended up losing in extra time to the Galician team, from the Second RFEF.
The match, which was postponed on October 30 by DANA, was marked by the expulsion of Levantinist Marcos Navarroin the 18th minute for a direct red card, when he hit an opponent’s leg with his studs. The tie became more difficult for Levante just five minutes later, when Hector scored from inside the area after good play on the left by Chiqui.
Levante would have gone into the break with another goal against, but Chiqui clearly helped herself with her hand before beat Andrés Fernández (m. 32). The only Levantine occasion is for spyin a one-on-one that was stopped by Pontevedra’s goalkeeper, although it was the Galician team who deservedly went into the break with the most goals.
Nothing changed during the break, though Calero changed the team including Dela enters to better protect oneself in defense. Pontevedra tried so hard that they achieved 2-0, thanks to the skill of Fountain to collect the ball that bounced off the post in the face of Levante’s defensive passivity.
Morales, recently entered the field, cut distances with 20 minutes left on a corner kick with a good shot against the crossbar (2-1, m.72). But Levante’s reaction remained there, as they conceded the last two goals in extra time, the work of Chiqui and Yelko Pino, respectively.
