Rodrigo Hernandez the new Ballon d’Or winner, will be honored this Saturday ahead of his Premier League side Manchester City’s match against Tottenham Hotspur on the grass at the Etihad Stadium.
The Madrid footballer, who is in Spain these days to give several interviews, received the Ballon d’Or on October 28, before the Brazilian Vinicius Junior in the poll, and this Saturday he will return to his stadium for the first time to receive the award.
The first ‘sky blue’ to achieve this
Rodri will be received on the lawn next to the award, marking him as the first player in the history of the ‘Sky Blues’ to achieve it.
City asked its fans to take their seats twenty minutes before the game and offered print Rodri’s name for free on all those t-shirts which was bought during these days and until Sunday.
Rodri meets is recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament injury in his right knee which he suffered on September 22 in the Premier match against Arsenal. The first forecast is that he will miss the whole season, but the midfielder wants to be available for the new FIFA Club World Cup which is held between June and July.
