Historic F1 battle: Ferrari and McLaren play it out in the last two races

Date:

There are two Grand Prix left to finish F1 World Cup and the drivers’ World Championship has been decided ever since Max Verstappen clinched his fourth crown this Sunday at the F1 Las Vegas GP. But there are still many battles to be fought in the last two events of the year, with a key role for exciting and even battle between Ferrari and McLaren for the Constructors’ World Championshipwith Red Bull losing steam in third place.

The battle for the crown rages, red hotafter poor performance of the McLarens on the cold asphalt of Las Vegaswhere the Woking team was stuck. And the tension on both teams to achieve the goal is huge. This is not surprising, because Both teams have a golden opportunity to end their long crown drought.

Opportunity in action

McLaren haven’t won the drivers’ title since 2008, 16 seasons ago and that drought will continue as Norris has made too many mistakes this season in his battle with a Max that is too big. But those from Woking can go to what they say is their priority this year, a Constructors scepter that the ‘papaya’ team has not achieved since 1998when they achieved it with the couple formed by Mika Hakkinen and David Coulthard. McLaren can end 26 years of waiting to repeat that feat in search of his 9th Constructors’ World Championship.

In its part, Ferrari’s last title was in 2008, certainly in the Constructors’ title. (his last Driver’s title was in 2007, with Raikkonen). Since then, the red box adds 16 years to the white, no crownsand he has the best chance in years to end that bad streak.

Ferrari closed in on McLaren and tightened the fight

Ferrari arrived in Las Vegas 36 points behind McLaren, with Red Bull 13 points behind the reds, and the Italians did so as huge favorites due to the nature of the circuit. They did not leave with the expected spoils due to their unexpected demotion and the surprise provided by Mercedes, with a double, however, the 3rd and 4th places of Sainz and Leclerc, respectively, with the non Pérez’s good result or McLaren’s poor performance, Ferrari tightens the fight.

Now, McLaren will face the final two races with Ferrari just 24 points behind. Meanwhile, Red Bull lost steam and finished third, 29 points behind those in red and 53 behind the leaders. Red Bull has everything against it and McLaren starts as a favorite as the last two circuits should favor its car.
