The pilot of Williams Racing Academy, Luke Browningwill participate in the first free practice session of the Grand Prix of Abu Dhabi 2024 and will participate in the young drivers’ test at the end of the season. Free Practice Session 1 is the team’s second and final mandatory rookie driver session this year and will mark Luke’s debut in a Formula 1 weekend.
The young 22-year-old driver had a good season in Formula 3. He achieved two pole positions in Australia and Great Britainin addition to two victories at Bahrain and Austria. He fought for the championship until the last race monzafinished third in the Drivers’ Championship.
Luke made the jump to Formula 2 in the GP of Azerbaijan, where he scored points in his ART Grand Prix debut. He will continue with ART for the final two rounds of the F2 season.
Luke’s participation in the FP1 session and the young drivers test is part of the tradition of Williams Racing Driver Academy to offer young talents a path to F1, which recently saw the Academy driver Franco Colapinto move up a position in F1. The Driver Academy supports drivers at all levels of motorsport racing, working with them on and off the track to develop the skills required to compete at the highest level.
