Frank Lampard, the legend of Chelsea, became the new coach of Coventry City, a Championship team (English Second Division). This is his fifth trip to the bench, after spells at Derby County, for whom he is one game away from a move to the Premier League, Everton and two spells at Chelsea.
Lampard will take on a Convetry team that are seventeenth in the table, two points clear of the relegation zone. He replaces Mark Robins, who held the position for seven years and took the team to the Premier promotion playoff final in 2023 and the FA Cup semifinals in 2024 where they lost on penalties against Manchester United.
Lampard, who has worked in the media since leaving Chelsea in May 2023, has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with Coventry City and his first game is this weekend against Cardiff City.
