They predict KTM’s future in MotoGP after declaring bankruptcy with billions in debt

Date:

KTM, an Austrian manufacturer and one of the five manufacturers that participate in the top category of the Motorcycle World Championship – they also have a presence in Moto2 and Moto3 – has jointly declared itself insolvent. with KTM Components GmbH and KTM Forschungs und Entwicklungs GmbH, two of its subsidiary companies. The company requested bankruptcy and the figures were recently released for an issue that has become the biggest failure this year in the Alpine republic.

These facts have KTM’s participation in MotoGP in the recent future has been questioned. however, Carlo Pernatpilot manager currently working with Enea Bastianini, who from 2025 will race for the Austrian manufacturercame forward to reveal the plans of those from Mattighofen in the Motorcycle World Championship.

In remarks reported by ‘MOW Magazine’, the Italian said “I can’t show the signed papers, but I guarantee that they give us an absolute guarantee that the entire MotoGP-related part of KTM is gone. of any dynamic corporate crisis they are going through.

“If you ask me if the situation borders on desperation, I will tell you yes. But, If you ask me if I am worried about Enea Bastianini, I will say no.. The situation, although close to desperation, is less dramatic than it seems. The debt is 3 billion euros, but the required short-term liquidity is 500 million euros. Documents brought to court refer to two other companies which always refers to KTM and, if we look, none of the three companies have anything to do with racing,” said Pernat.

MotoGP moves

True to his arguments, the Italian defends that “If there were problems… would they have renewed Pedro Acosta and been as active in the market signing Enea Bastianini and Maverick Viñales? It should be enough to understand that one thing is the very serious crisis of the company and the other is the MotoGP team or teams. Even legally, they are separate. Did they cancel the wind tunnel test? Yes, it is true, but it has nothing to do with the debts and the restructuring plan.”

So, the Italian reiterated that “we have absolute guarantees that, as far as MotoGP is concerned, everything will remain the same. There is an ambitious project, a developed motorcycle that has already been tested in the test and work in Barcelona is carried out with maximum transparency. We can discuss everything; but, for now, there is no need to worry and we should stick to the facts. This does not mean, let’s be clear, that we are watching and not caring about people who will lose their jobs or who will be rejected by prospects.”
