Esteban Ocon will not compete in the next Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. This was announced this Monday by the Alpine team, confirming the rumors pointing to an early separation before the last race of the season next weekend.
“There was a discussion, there’s still no definitive answer, but we’ve discussed it. It’s a bit complicated (…) He obviously wanted to leave earlier too. I think it comes from everywhere“, Oliver Oakes explained to the press after the Qatar Grand Prix.
The decision allows Ocon to be released to drive for Haas in postseason testing, it was confirmed the French team, which will install the Australian Jack Doohan, his replacement in 2025, this weekend.
“You can say that it’s good for Jack to start earlier, that it’s good for Esteban to move on to something else. I think it suits everyone. It’s a natural discussion. In truth, Esteban plays an important role in this team and, on both sides, it suits everyoneadded Oakes.
This Sunday Ocon questioned his participation in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix by sincerely thanking his mechanics and engineers after his early abandonment at the Qatar GP.
