The Moto2 grid is shaking after the latest events that have emerged in the intermediate category. As explained by Sky Sports, the Preicanos Racing Moto2 was unexpectedly dissolved after a legal battle between the team’s founder, Edu Perales, and the CEO of Preico Jurídicos, Raúl Casteñedawhich took control of the structure from June 2024.
The year was not going well for the structure of Gas Up, under the mandate of Edu Perales, and in the middle of the year Castañeda arrived to turn the situation around. He signed Artigas and Voight for JuniorGP and on a technical level he was strengthened by important figures such as Toni Elias and Giovanni Sandi.
The problem came from the Moto2 seats. According to Sky, Castañeda understood that by taking over the management of the team he also retained ownership of the positions in the intermediate category. However, it remains in Perales’ hands through his company Stop&Go, the former name of the team. Because of Perales’ refusal to give Castañeda control, he decided to abandon the project and resort to legal means. This is what Castañeda himself announced through his social media profile.
Preicanos’ name has disappeared from the team’s social media profile as well as its website, with only photos from the season appearing. Now all the management of the team is back in the hands of Edu Perales and the name of the structure is again GasUp until the case is resolved in court.
Regarding the driver lineup for 2025, it continues to consist of Jaume Masià and Daniel Muñoz But in all this turmoil, no change for the future can be denied.
