In words of Felipe Martínez, president of the Royal Spanish Boxing Federation: “The increase in participation both in the Championship forms (jump rope, shadow and bag/mitts), and in the combat modality is very noticeable compared to the first edition with male and female representation. Also, the first official wheelchair boxing match is a historic milestone and another step for us to promote inclusive sport, which is a firm commitment of RFEBoxeo. This is now our chance to continue promoting this discipline both in clubs and in the training of technicians in this modality. With this growing participation, we want to plant a seed so that these types of athletes have options to go to gyms where this modality is trained and see them in official competitions. I have to admit that seeing these athletes show their progress moved me to the incredible effort these people put into their everyday lives and of course in competition. The adapted boxing athletes sent me their happiness at having this setting to stay connected to the sport they love so much and of course our entity will do everything possible for its development.”
