Australia’s forward Sam Kerr he will never be played with again Chelsea until February or March, as announced by blue team coach Sonia Bompastor. Kerr, 31, underwent anterior cruciate ligament surgery in January and Bopastor said he won’t be able to play again for more than a year after that surgery.
“I would say we hope to have her back with us in February or March, not before,” he said yesterday, Friday, before Chelsea host Brighton in the Women’s Super League on Sunday. “He has not yet started training with the group, he is still in the individual rehabilitation process and I think it will take him at least two or three more months to be fit enough to be with the team.”
The French coach’s comments appear to raise significant doubts over whether Kerr will be able to play in Australia’s February matches against Japan, the United States and Colombia at the SheBelieves Cup, which starts on February 20.
