MotoGP will help Cheste and Chiva with 1.6 million euros

Date:

The general director of Sports of the Generalitat Valenciana Luis Cervera and the CEO of Dorna Carmelo Ezpeleta This Monday they visited the mayors of the towns of Chiva, Amparo Fort, and Cheste, José Morell, to announce a grant from MotoGP of a total of 1.6 million euros to cooperate in the reconstruction after the tragedy DANA which devastated the province of Valencia on October 29.

Ezpeleta explained that “a week after DANA we visited the towns of Cheste and Chiva, which are the two closest to the Ricardo Tormo Circuit and where we have a closer relationship. We are really impressed with what happened and I promised the mayors of Cheste and Chiva that we will try to put all initiatives together to help.”

In the end, we were able to add more than a million and a half euros“This is our grain of sand where we hope to be able to improve the lives of the citizens of Cheste and Chiva a little bit,” added the person in charge of the motorcycle world championship.

For his part, the general director of Sports Luis Cervera declared after the visit to the two municipalities that MotoGP “has made itself available to corporations so that they can decide the destination of that money in sporting or social issues.”

Cervera expressed the gratitude of the Generalitat Valenciana to MotoGP: “It is a gesture like many others that occur in the world of sports.“, a gesture of solidarity, support and help to those who need it most.”

Rather than simply giving the proceeds from ticket sales as part of the investment made in organizing the event, Dorna decided to increase its contribution in recognition of this collective effort and donate one million euros to the funds raised for Valencia.

The teams, through their IRTA association, also contributed a significant individual donation of 100,000 euros to the Caixabank and Red Cross fund, and the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce donated 50,000 euros.

By selling tickets, t-shirts, etc., every fan who attended the sold-out Solidarity Grand Prix, or followed the race around the world, made their own contribution, allowing Dorna Sports, which holds the MotoGP rights, do the same.

The event was named the Best GP of 2024, rewarding the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya for its hard work behind the scenes, after hosting the baton with very little time to host the Grand Prix that should have been held in the Cheste and the consequences of the damage they prevented.

A total of 1.6 million euros from all MotoGP initiatives will now be allocated to the recovery of the towns closest to the Circuit Ricardo Tormo, Cheste and Chiva, communities that generally receive a positive economic impact of hosting the finish of cycling time. .
