In 2025, Pedro Acosta will finish his second season in MotoGP. In his first year, aboard the Red Bull GasGas Tech3 KTM RC16, ‘Tiburón de Mazarrón’ finished the campaign in sixth position overall with 215 points, thanks to four podiums in the Sprint races and five in the race on Sunday.
These good results opened the doors of the Austrian manufacturer’s official team, so from 2025 he will wear orange and partner Brad Binder with Maverick Viñales and Enea Bastianini in the box led by Hervé Poncharal.
Michele Pirro, Ducati test rider, recently gave an interview to ‘Speedweek’ where he assessed various current issues in MotoGP. The Italian, who has been working at Borgo Panigale since before the arrival of Gigi Dall’Igna, states that “I had the opportunity to work with very good drivers. Now, I believe that it is not Jorge Lorenzo, or Marc Márquez or others drivers. “They would be as famous as they are if it weren’t for Valentino Rossi. In Italy, and all over the world, people followed MotoGP thanks to him. I myself started watching the World Championship because of him.”
Asked about the evolution of the Ducati Desmosedici GP25 compared to the GP24, Pirro pointed out that “we have to focus more on small things and not make big changes, try to make improvements without giving up on something that works.”
Marc Marquez and Pecco Bagnaia
Regarding Marc Márquez and Pecco Bagnaia, the Ducati tester admitted that “I have access to the data of all the Ducati riders. I’m not an engineer, but after many years I learned to read the data. Bagnaia’s strong point has always been braking . Jorge Martín made a step in this direction by learning that Marc is incredibly good, especially on the left side. “He should work on the right side, but sometimes his body is can’t help him. 2025 will be a very interesting year.”
Finally, Pirro admitted that “I would like to see Pedro Acosta at Ducati. If someone wins two World Championships in three years -Moto3 in 2021 and Moto2 in 2023-, and does what he did, naturally he will continue to win .”
