Uribes: “The 2030 World Cup will be the best in history”

José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, president of the Higher Sports Council (CSD)assured this Wednesday, through an official statement, that the World Cup in Spain, Morocco and Portugal, to be held in 2030, “will be the best in history.”

For the top leader of CSD, the tournament will be a milestone “expand the pride of the whole Spanish society” and a recognition of Spain for organizing sporting events at the highest level.

In addition, he said that it is also a tribute to the football tradition and success of Spanish football. Uribes is convinced that the 2023 World Cup, at the sporting and organizational level “it will be the best in history and will contribute to social cohesion, unity and collective pride.”

The president of the CSD thanked “in a special way” the president of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, for his “decisive commitment” to the “national project” from the first moment and all the Ministries “for his involvement in the candidacy.”

This Wednesday, from Las Rozas Soccer Citytwo ministers followed live the official designation by FIFA of Spain, Morocco and Portugal as the organizing countries of the 2030 World Cup: the Minister of Education, Vocational Training and Sports, Pilar Alegría, and the Minister of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory, Ángel Victor Torres.

The general director of Sports, Fernando Molinero, and the former national coach were also present. Vicente del Bosque and Elena Martínez Ruiz, who together with Francisco Javiaer García Sanza and Auri Bokesa are members of the commission created by CSD to “safeguard the general interest of the State in relation to Spanish football and, in particular, in aspects related to the design of the 2030 World Cup candidacy.”

To all of them, Uribes thanked them for their cooperation so that the dream “became reality” and extended his gratitude to all the workers of Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) which “for a long time cooperated with the federations of Portugal and Morocco.

Also, he emphasized the union of the three countries so that the organization of the event serves “bridge between continents” and will celebrate its centennial in 2030.

For Spain, Uribes said, the World Cup represents “an opportunity to foster a passion for footballtransform the sports industry, boost job creation in key sectors and attract foreign investments in sports infrastructure and technology.”

“The real legacy lies in consolidating Spain as a world leader in the organization of major sporting events.”which will undoubtedly open the door to new opportunities to host international competitions in the future. We should feel very happy about this recognition from FIFA, which brings together sport as one of the strategic sectors for this Government, because of its positive impact on our economy and our country,” he concluded.
