After more than two decades without a Grand Prix of motorcycling’s highest category in Brazil, that drought will end starting with the 2026 season.
The MotoGP World Championship will return to the South American country, and will do so at the Autódromo Internacional Ayrton Senna de Goiânia as the venue from this season until 2030, a circuit that has been part of the World Championship between 1987 and 1989.
Brazil returns to the MotoGP calendar after doing so for the last time in 2004, at the Nelson Piquet circuit in Jacarepagua (Rio de Janeiro) and having previously done so at Interlagos in 1992.
“We look forward to returning to Brazil. We have a great fan base that we know is happy about this news, as we are eager to compete with them again, and this new agreement also offers a great opportunity to expand in a key market for the sport and our manufacturers. We always believe that Brazil deserves a place in our calendar,” said Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of Dorna Sports.
