Paul Pogba He is getting closer to his return to football. Cleared for doping in February, the midfielder will return to the playing fields in March and there is certainly no shortage of options. In fact, for some time now there have been rumors about the possible interest of Olympique Marseille, with Juventus Turin already expecting to terminate their contract.
Marseille president Pablo Longoria confirmed on Wednesday that there are no “advanced discussions” or “continuing conversations” with Paul Pogba, who has been free since he left Juventus Turin. “People talk to me more about Paul than our results,” Longoria first said with a smile. “He is an extraordinary player, an extraordinary person, and I shared time with him at Juventus. I am happy that his punishment has been reduced,” added the Spanish leader.
“But right now, there is no advanced discussion, no focus. We will have an internal meeting this week to discuss our goals in the transfer window. When a world-class player is in the transfer window, we have to study it,” he added. And he insisted: “There was no conversation or any decision was made. I’m not closing the door because it’s in the transfer window, but it’s more speculation and dreams than reality,” said Longoria.
Pogba’s contract with Juventus was terminated at the end of November. The French midfielder is suspended from September 2023 after failing a doping test for dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA). The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) reduced his suspension from four years to eighteen months in early October and he will be able to return to competition in March.
