The world champion of cycling under-23 time trial, Ivan Romeowas chosen as the Valladolid’s best athlete of 2024 at the XXXIII Valladolid Ciudad Deportiva Awards, awarded annually by the city council.
Romeo will receive his award in a gala that will be held at the end of January in the Reception Hall of Valladolid Town Hall, and where he will be accompanied by other winners in various categories.
So, the award for the best coach went to Gustavo Prato (rowing); best manager for Daniel Bravo, president of the Fencing Federation of Castilla y León; the best sports delegation, for the handballand the best event, for Spain-Fiji rugby match.
CD Patinaje en Línea Valladolid, CD Atletaria Isaac Viciosa and CBS Five Valladolid Beisbol were also recognized as best sports creatures; Pablo Christiaens Sánchez, as the best judge-referee (Skating), and the Sacred Heart School (Corazonistas), as best school.
In its part, Martha Arce -Paralympic judoka- was selected as the best athlete with a disability of 2024 and Lydia CastroSpanish cyclocross cadet champion, as the best athlete of school age.
Furthermore, it was agreed to provide special mentions in Arturo Coello -number one in the World Paddle Ranking-; Adrian Parras -European champion of 10 Kilometers of Adapted Athletics- and Luis Huerta -Paralympic diploma in Adapted Swimming at the Paris Olympic Games-.
Added to the list VRAC Entrepinares Cheeses -Rugby Honor Division champion-; Alejandra Alonso -European padel champion for cadet teams; Sergio de Larrea -absolute basketball international-, and Valkyries CD -Spanish Dragon Boat champions-.
They completed the shortlist Alberto Blanco -for his long and brilliant career as an international rugby player); CD Rolling Lemons -for the international achievements of its athletes- and Uriel Reguero -coach of three athletes participating in the Paris Olympic Games-.
Finally, the Valladolid Sports Press Association decided to award the José Luis Morencia Award to Francisco de Borja Lara Adánezfor his exemplary work at the head of Municipal Sports Foundationfor 36 years.
