The Circuit is closing out a record-breaking season

Date:

The Catalan track completed another season with maximum performance, enjoyed by thousands of fans. The numbers prove it. He The Circuit welcomed 812,755 people to the events it organized this yearwhich marks the best attendance in 15 years and the seventh in area history. Of the 17 major events held, the one that attracted the largest audience was the FORMULA 1 ARAMCO SPANISH GRAND PRIXwith a total of 297,368 in attendance over the four days of the event. On Sunday, 125,210 people attended the Circuit. It was a successful edition, approaching the numbers of 2006, 2007 and 2008, coinciding with the rise of Fernando Alonso to the World Cup.

This year’s F1 GP was also exceptional as the city of Barcelona, far far away, associated with motorsports, vibrates with an unforgettable show that brings F1 closer to all citizens in the RoadShow and Fan Village. Almost 120,000 people passed through Formula 1 Barcelona Fan Festival and they enjoyed many activities designed around F1 during the week, also thanks to the cooperation and collaboration of all the institutions.

Second, it is followed by MotoGP’s Monster Energy Grand Prix of Catalunyawith 176,684 in attendance over four days, 76,124 fans on Sunday alone. In the third position is the Motul Solidarity Grand Prize of Barcelonarecently awarded the award for the best GP of 2024. There were 134,848 people who came through the Circuit during the three days of activity and filled the place showing a huge gesture of solidarity with all the victims of the DANA that hit Valencia and forced the suspension of the Grand Prix to be held at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit. Against the clock and showing a great capacity to respond to a logistical challenge of such magnitude, the Circuit, together with Dorna (sponsoring company of the MotoGP World Championship), organized this extraordinary and supportive Grand Prix in only ten days was able to raise and allocate 1.6 million euros to Valencia.

325 days of track activity

The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya closes the 2024 season with a 89% occupancy and a total of 325 days of track activity. This figure can be divided into 225 rental days and 100 competition days. A total of 20 days were invested in performing tasks and maintenance and there were 21 days of inactivity. The 89% occupancy rate is one of the highest numbers in the past decade, surpassed only by 2017 and 2023 (91%).

After 12 intense months, the venue offers its facilities for many experiences such as training (for car, motorcycle and cyclist competitions), business and training sessions, driving courses, filming , performances, educational visits, charity events and concerts.

The Circuit’s commitment to diversity, offering different spaces to host all kinds of activities, has also led it to celebrate music festivals such as Reggaeton Beach Festivalwhich brought together up to 85,000 people in one weekend.

In this sense, the Circuit, managed by the Fira de Barcelona from January 2025, continues to follow the fundamentals of the Strategic Plan presented in 2022 and which aims to make it more environmentally and economically sustainable, with a clear commitment to innovation and digitalization to become the main infrastructure for the country’s industry.
