Peter Lim’s risky bet: eight of his 12 coaches have never trained in the First Division

Date:

Eight of the twelve technicians trained in the Valencia with Peter Lim as the largest shareholder is not directed to First Division Spanish upon his arrival, a fact which is repeated, once again, upon the acquisition of the Spanish Carlos Corberanthe twelfth time of the Asian businessman in Che club.

Valencia signed this decade Meriton Holdings as the highest shareholder Nuno Espirito Santo, Gary Neville, Pako Ayestarán, Cesare Prandelli, Voro González, Marcelino, Albert Celades, Javi Gracia, José Bordalás, Gennaro Gattuso, Rubén Baraja and Carlos Corberánalthough only four of them have previous League experience.

Corberanwho spent the last two and a half seasons at West Bromwich Albionstill signing as the club’s new coach until June 2027, after the Mestalla entity ceased last Monday Ruben Barajawith a contract until 2026.

However, the Valencian coach does not have any experience in First Division Espanyol, or in any of the other four major European leagues, as he directed five seasons in Espanyol’s second division, the Championship (second English)and another season in the Greek League, once directed the Olympiakos.

Only Voro González, Marcelino, Javi Gracia and José Bordalás They had previous experience in the top flight of Spanish football, as none of the other coaches had coped in the Liga upon their arrival, and even Gary Neville has never managed any team, while Albert Celades He does not coach any club, only national teams.

However, experience seems to be one of the keys to success at the club, as the only two coaches to lead Valencia to a final this decade with Lim at the helm are Marcelino Garcia Toral and José Bordaláscertainly two technicians with previous experience in EA Sports League.
