Cole Palmer established a new scoring record in Chelsea history despite losing against Fulham at Stamford Bridge (1-2). The young English playmaker scored the first goal of the match and reached 26 since the start of 2024 in the Premier League. Until now he shared with the Dutch Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink the best scoring record in the London club’s history in a calendar year.
In 2001, Hasselbaink scored a total of 25 goals, equaling Palmer’s record in 2024, but this broke a record that no one has managed to surpass in the past 23 years.
In the 16th minute, Palmer, after being sent off Andreas Pereira and Sasa Lukicbeat the goalkeeper Bernard Leno with a tight left foot shot from outside the area that wasn’t enough to win, but it helped him write his name in Chelsea history. Fulham came back with two goals in the final moments of the game.
