Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili has been selected by the Georgian Football Federation as the best player in his country in 2024 at the annual awards gala held this Friday.
The 24-year-old goalkeeper from Tbilisi was surpassed Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Napoli striker, which won it in the last editions.
Mamardashvili was chosen by the Georgian newspaper Sarbieli as the best football player in his country and in the same year he placed seventh in Yashin Trophy, award that recognizes the best goalkeeper, at the Ballon d’Or gala.
The Valencian player, who is playing on loan at Valencia after being transferred last summer to Liverpool English, he has been selected as the best goalkeeper in LaLiga EA Sports in the 2023-24 season.
Furthermore, Mamardashvili is the Valencia goalkeeper with the most consecutive starts LaLiga with 71, in addition to breaking his own record for most clean sheets (13).
Also, the Georgian is the goalkeeper, along with First Simonwith more penalties saved (3). He was also nominated for the best Under-23 player in the domestic championship in March.
At the international level, the goalkeeper has shown a good level with his team of late European Cupa competition where he received the award for the best football player in Georgia’s match against the Czech Republic after achieving the second best record of saves in a match in the group stage of the top continental tournament.
