The Spanish Paula Badosa swept his landing at Wimbledon against the American louis chirico by 6-2 and 6-1.
Badosa, who came in without a win on the lawn before this tournament, prevailed at his best level against Chirico, who was in this final draw thanks to passing the previous stage.
Despite Chirico’s faster pace, Badosa, who fell to world number 169 last week in Eastbourne, showed why he is a ‘top ten’ and a contender to win any tournament he enters.
The fourth seed, in a tournament where he reached the fourth round last year, took advantage of his rival’s 23 errors, losing only once his serve and flawless in the net, where he won it all of the point he seeks.
It was an almost perfect match for Badosa, who came here with skepticism, due to poor surface adaptation and physical knee problems that forced him to retire at Roland Garros.
Paula Badosa will face in the second round the winner of the clash between the Romanian Irina Maria Bara and the French Chloe Package.
