Jagoba Arrasatecoach of Majorcadid not hide his disappointment in the cup elimination against Pontevedra (3-0), which he denied was motivated by the proximity of the Spanish Super Cup semi-final against Real Madrid.
“It’s a football issue. They attack better than us, our stealing costs a lot. They are clearly outplaying us. Pontevedra played better and were more effective. The first two goals were great goals , and the third came after a mistake on our part. It is a hard moment,” confessed the Basque coach.
Arraste pointed out that his team started the game “well,” but the 1-0 score forced his players to “stretch” and that’s where they suffered more.
“No one thinks about the Super Cup. When you lose 3-0 against an inferior opponent, it might seem that you think differently, but that is not the case. It was a difficult defeat, we have to accept it and it hurts us because we are focused on this match. We had a lot of hope for the Cup, but Pontevedra is better than us,” he said.
“One team became superior to the other, nothing else. It was a difficult day. I understand that the fans will be upset, but we have to be a team and I include the fans if we want to do great things this season. Now we have to hurt because we respect the rival and we planned the game to win,” he concluded.
