More fuel: Rashford is not traveling to Anfield!

Date:

The forward of Manchester United Marcus Rashford miss Sunday’s Premier League match against the leaders Liverpool at Anfield due to “an illness”, said coach Ruben Amorim, fueling rumors about his future. Rashford, 27, was out of the squad for four consecutive games before being called to the bench for the match against Newcastle United, which Amorim’s side lost 2-0 at Old Trafford on Monday.

Rashford, however, did not play a single minute against Newcastle. With five defeats in their last six league games, United have slumped to 14th in the table with 22 points from 19 games, their worst position to finish a calendar year since 15th them in 1989.

“The situation is the same, at the moment he is sick. He is not training,” Amorim told reporters before the match. The Portuguese first left Rashford out for the 2-1 derby win against Manchester City on December 15, two days before the England international said he was “ready for a new challenge” after being at United since he was seven years old.

Rashford has scored 138 goals in 426 appearances since making his senior debut for the club in 2016, winning the Europa League, two FA Cups and the League Cup twice. “We’ll see in the future, but it’s like a normal player, then I make a selection. So it’s the same. I think he’s going to be out, this week he’ll be out,” Amorim said.
