Scottie Scheffler announced this Monday his low on The American Express after explaining his right hand has not fully recovered. The American player had to undergo a few days ago minor surgery to repair the wound glass work at Christmas time.
World number one Scheffler injured his hand while preparing Christmas dinner, forcing him to miss the start of the PGA Tour season in The Sentry in Hawaii. It also won’t be coming to American Express in Palm Desert, California, which is scheduled for January 16-19. “After consulting with my medical team, I have decided to withdraw from the American Express tournament next week to give my injury more time to recover.”Scheffler announced in an Instagram post.
Scheffler’s next goal is to start his year at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, a flagship event that begins on January 30. Scheffler is coming off a stellar season in which he won Masters and Olympic gold, the Players Championship and the FedEx Cup, among others, for a total of nine titles. He was the PGA Tour player of the year and became the first player since Tiger Woods in 2009 to hold the number one ranking for an entire calendar year.
