Forest chase Arsenal and Wolves sink

Date:

Nottingham Forest will be able to continue dreaming of the Champions League, after a well-deserved victory away from home with a stellar Gibbs-White, to confirm third place in the table and knock Wolves off the brink of relegation.

There are now six consecutive victories for the team led by Nuno Espírito Santo; a team that is solid in defense (19 goals conceded in 20 games) and effective in attack, thanks to the leadership of its references, the New Zealander Chris Wood and the British Gibbs-White.

The one who opened the scoring was the English player himself, to confirm the established ‘law of the ex’, in a spectacular counter-attack that ended from the edge of the area; a low shot at the near post thanks to a fantastic move from Swede Elanga.

Veteran Chris Wood made it 2-0 just before half-time, after Hudson-Odoi’s dizzying drive, to seal his 12th goal of the season and dampen the morale of a disorganized and lackluster local team.

Nuno Espíritu Santo’s students were, in local despair, an insurmountable wall in the second half. Vítor Pereira’s men were impatient and fragile to the point of conceding the third goal, scored by Nigerian Taiwo Awoniyi into an empty net.

A 0-3 left Wolverhampton deeply touched and a Nottingham Forest in the Champions League put a cloud over where half the Premier League played.
