“I was riding the same bike as Dani Pedrosa and there wasn’t that much difference in weight. He’s just better”

Date:

Dani Pedrosa was part of the Repsol Honda MotoGP Team between 2006 and 2018. During his time in the golden wing box, the ‘Samurai’ shared a team with drivers such as Nicky Hayden, Andrea Dovizioso, Casey Stoner or Marc Márquez. The Australian recently gave an interview to ‘La Gazzetta dello Sport’ in which, among other things, he featured the talent of the Castellar del Vallès driver.

Stoner won his second premier class title in 2011wearing the same color as Pedrosa: “I remember a race that year. Coming out of the last corner towards the finish line, Pedrosa was two tenths faster than me on the same bike. He did something incredible with the rear brake what is the cost to stop the wheelie“said ’27’.

The Australian explained that “I went behind Dani and it disappears every time we come out of the last corner. I don’t want to pass him because I want to understand what he is doing.. If I catch him and put myself first the whole lap, on the last straight he will catch me again. I had to go crazy all around to make room, and him all recovered in a curve“.

Stoner measures 171 centimeters and Pedrosa 160. Both, of similar constitution, They had the same weight when they competed. This information was used by ’27’ during the interview to reject those who associate Dani’s motorcycle skills with his light weight: “Many said it was because Pedrosa was too light, or because of the motorcycle. I ride the same motorcycle as him and there is not much difference in weight. He’s just better.. So I followed him to understand how he did it.”
