A day after Carlos Sainz withdrew after overturning on stage 2, another of the favourites, Sébastien Loeb, crashed on stage 3 of the Dakar 2025 and said goodbye to almost all his chances of winning the world’s toughest test in his ninth attempt
The 9-time world champion is living a real nightmare in this race. He was suffocating despite his tremendous speed. Something always happens to him, year after year, that prevents his immense quality from winning the final finish line of the Dakar with the Touraeg in his arms.
Sébastien established himself as one of the good candidates after the return of Sainz and the failures of the other favorites in the terrifying and extremely complicated stage 2. He left the 48-hour day that saved the day after an electrical problem at the start of the first part of that special and faced stage 3 in a good distance from Lategan, Al-Rajhi and Al-Attiyahin the ointment. He is 19′ behind the South African, 14′ behind the Saudi and 8′ behind the big favourite, Nasser Al-Attiyah.
