Concern in LA about the impact of the fires on its Olympic facilities

Date:

He massive fire that affected the city of Los Angeles since last Tuesday (California, United States), and reached up to six open fronts, destroying thousands of structures, displacing hundreds of thousands of residents, destroying local monuments and threatening others.

Due to this wonderful situation, We must not forget that Los Angeles will be the headquarters, in 2028, the next one Summer Olympics.

Although there is still plenty of time for these to occur, local authorities are concerned, given the proximity of the fires, about their possible impact on some of the venues and infrastructure that should host the various Olympic disciplines.

According to initial information, almost all headquarters remain, for the moment, without any effect, but a couple of them are, to a greater or lesser extent, affected.

The first is the Riviera Country Clubwhere the tournament will be held golflocated within the perimeter affected by the Palisades fire.

At first, Riviera was outside of any evacuation zone, but as the fire spread quickly with strong gusts of wind (up to 160 kilometers per hour), the mandatory zone is expanded. Riviera, southeast of the fire, is just inside the most dangerous zone, which also extends west past Big Rock Beach and north to Topanga State Park.

Another facility affected by the LA fires was the Sepulveda Basin Recreation Areawhere the Olympic competitions will be held archery, BMX and skateboarding.

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, “the fire is spreading slowly. There is currently no threat to infrastructure or structures. No injuries have been reported.”

For now, the fires are not under control, so we will see if the situation changes in the next few hours and what other facilities will be affected by the fire.
