The Athletic subsidiary continues without leaving

Date:

Unfair luck for the four Biscayan teams that will compete in group 1 of the Primera RFEF. Barakaldo, new to the category after completing its promotion last summer, reached the halfway point of the League in second position. Imanol de la Sota’s men made it clear on Sunday in Lezama that their privileged position in the qualifying table was not a result of chance. Gualdinegros has accumulated 32 points and is five away from the leader Cultural Leonesa.

The other three teams in Bizkaia are having a worse time so far. Sestao River, which sank to the bottom of the qualifying table, has risen and, at the moment, is no longer in the relegation positions, although tied on points with fifth from bottom (Osasuna B) . The green and black, who just lost to Ponferradina 1-2, reached the middle of the league tournament, therefore, in fourteenth position with nine points less than Barakaldo (23) and tied with four other teams: Barça B, Tarazona, Lugo and Osasuna B.

Colists

Bilbao Athletic and Amorebieta, new to the category, occupy the last two positions in the classification. The Cubs, who managed to rise as leaders of the Second RFEF last season, have yet to react. After their defeat against Barakaldo on Sunday in Lezama, Jokin Aranbarri’s team finished the first round as second to last with 19 points.

The Athletic subsidiary, unlike Barakaldo, did not simply take off. The rojiblancos have added more points away than Lezama (nine at home and ten as visitors), accumulating five defeats at home and as many away. Their average number of goals scored is slightly higher than one per game (20) and slightly higher in terms of goals conceded (27).

Amorebieta, a club in the middle of its Centennial celebrations and relegated from the Second Division last season, is the surprising bottom of this group 1 midway through the championship. The blues, who started the campaign with Julen Guerrero as coach and after his sacking signed Natxo González, had just 15 points.
