Surreal situation in Australia: Auger and Davidovich, forced to leave the track

The Spanish Alexander Davidovich and the Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime They experienced a surreal situation in their second round match at the Australian Open.

The program was delayed on the outdoor courts, without a retractable roof, as rain interrupted play on several occasions. Their match changed venues before it started, to gain time until midnight in Melbourne.

From an attractive stadium, the KIA Arena, they moved to Court 8, less protected. They had to stop the first time because of a few drops of rain, but did not leave the field.

The second arrest had nothing to do with the weather forecast. One of the event’s referee supervisors told the tennis players that they had to leave Court 8 and go to Court 7, further away from Court 6.


Here the fans sang and shouted in support of the Frenchman Arthur Cazauxwho faced the British James Fearnley. With so much intensity and repetition it was understood that it was impossible to maintain the acoustically contaminated Davidovich-Auger-Aliassime duel normally.


As the Canadian 3-4, and the Malaga native had to serve, both took their gear to go to a track further away from the noise. With them, the fans of their meeting.
