Cesc Fàbregas’ Como added an important victory against Udinese (4-1) in a match that could have been complicated in the second half with Payero’s goal to reduce the gap and the dismissal of Goldaniga immediately after (57′ ). However, the visiting team ruined their comeback attempt with the double yellow received by Solet in just four minutes (59′ and 63′) and Como closed the contest with two goals in the final period, the latter from to Nico Paz.
The match started well for the locals, who took the lead thanks to a great goal from Assane Diao in the 5th minute. The former Betis player fell on his feet in Como and has already scored two goals in three days of Serie A. Fábregas’ team controlled the pace of the match against an uninspired Udinese who only came close to Buzet’s place on the dribbles and drabs and little effort.
In the second half, Udinese kept up their forward pressure and took advantage of a ball clearance error to close the gap with a shot from outside the area by Payero (50′). The visiting team took advantage of the inertia of 2-1 to continue pressing and creating dangerous situations against a Como team that took longer than needed to react. To the greater misfortune of Cesc’s men, Goldaniga saw two yellow cards in just seven minutes (the second, unfairly) and left his team a man short.
The dismissal ignited a fire inside Como and emboldened Udinese, who squandered numerical superiority with two yellow cards that saw Solet in just four minutes (59′ and 63′). All things being equal, Como regained his bearings thanks to Nico Paz, who had entered the field moments before and whose comeback attempt came to naught.
With 10 minutes remaining, Como put the finishing touch on the match thanks to an own goal from Bijol. Already in stoppage time, Nico Paz scored on an empty net goal in transition to seal the win. Fàbregas’ men added a crucial victory to their bid to continue climbing the Serie A positions.
