Djokovic’s confession after his match with Alcaraz: “If I had lost the second set…”

Novak Djokovic once again showed this Tuesday that he is a true legend, not just of tennis but of sport. The Serbian won an epic battle against Carlos Alcaraz to seal his place in the semifinals of the Australian Open where he suffered physical problems.

I did it with my two legs and two arms, I think. One and a half feet. First I want to express my utmost respect and admiration for Carlos and all he represents,” said the ten-time Melbourne winner at the foot of the track.

Djokovic admitted that there were moments when it was not clear to him that he could continue playing because of the discomfort that caused him to go to the locker room in the last stretch of the first set.

If I lost the second set I don’t know if I would have continued playing.. I started to get better, I felt better. “When the drugs stop, we will see what the truth is tomorrow,” he confessed.

I had an injury similar to this at the beginning of the tournament. A small injury will help you be more aggressive on the track and it’s something I’ll need against Zverev in a few days. The extra day without a game is perfect for me,” he explained in relation to his expectations for the rest of the tournament.
