The FEF recalls that, along with 19 territorial federations in Spain, “several protection actions are carried out in Spanish football throughout the season”. “Notable among them is the training in Integrity provided to players, coaches and referees of all football, men’s and women’s and futsal. The non-professional football bet was dismantled by the National Police, in conjunction with Interpol and Europol, whose joint operation has allowed the arrest of 21 people in Seville, Cádiz, Almería and Badajoz and the investigation of six more. “The organization consisted of two men connected to the world of professional football, football players who abused their profession to provide privileged information, brokers who provided identities to operate in the online game and mules who went to gambling dens to pre – set sports bets and collect the prizes won,” the National Police announced on Wednesday.

The detainees are charged with alleged crimes of membership in a criminal organization, corruption between individuals on the sports field and fraud against gambling operators. The alleged leader of the plot, according to police, is said to be a CD Rota player, along with a person with ties to Atlético Sanluqueño, who dropped from the first to second RFEF in the past season and has several players among those arrested.
