Difficult to criticize the policies changes: “they haven’t played football yet”

Date:

The International Football Association Board (IFAB) agreed on Saturday that, beginning next time, it would be given a corner for the rival team when a goalkeeper holds the ball for more than eight seconds to waste time.

A decision with detractors such as former English manager Paul Robinson, who has not hesitated to criticize the reform of a policy that will uphold an indirect free ball to be punished by a goalkeeper for six seconds.

“Do you give kicks in the corner?”

“These policies make people clearly playing football. Do they give corners of corners?” “Goalkeepers used to have six seconds, then disappeared from the game, so goalkeepers began to manage the game and waste time. Now they provide two more seconds and there are eight,” the former international English defended the purpose of Leeds, Tottenham, Blackurn and Burnley.

IFAB considers the new rule, to enter into strength on July 1, will speed up the game. It will be applied to the FIFA Club World Cup, which will take place in the United States from June 15 to July 13.

Another former English manager Rob Green, believes that the six -second rules should be applied more tightly and irreversible.

“During his day there was a rule of six seconds and a little bit that he was fading, I don’t know why, but I think it was enough damage,” he told the BBC. “It may seem strange to introduce it again, but if we get more football in 90 minutes, I’m quite favorable. There’s only a 4% chance to mark from a corner, so it’s not a great threat, but at the end of the game, the last thing your teammates want to do is defend a ball playing if you win.”

Green is international with the English team and plays in Norwich, West Ham, Queens Park Rangers, Leeds, Huddersfield and Chelsea.
