INGEBRIGA: “El Guerrouj’s 1,500 record will be nice to defeat”

Date:

Jakob Ingebiga has been in recent years of one of the best midfielders in the world. His results were accredited to him but the Norwegian was also an athlete with no one left indifferent. Sometimes he is arrogant and that attitude makes it expensive and hated in equal parts.

On the World Cups (China) track this week, Ingebrgtssen (Sandnes, Norway; 2000) expects to continue collecting medals before facing an external eager period, where it can try to defeat the historic record of 1,500 by Hicham El Guerouj, “something that will be beautiful”

In 24 years, Ingebiga arrived in China after achieving a few days ago at APALAYORN (Netherlands) a historical act that the first European athlete to get three consecutive times that doubled continental at 1,500 and 3,000 under the roof. Those golds joined two Olympics in Tokyo 2020 (1,500) and Paris 2024 (5,000), two other World Cups at 5,000 (Eugene 2022 and Budapest 2023), six Europeans out and three cross continents.

“I think the trip to China is very long but before the competition I will do my best to try to prepare my best. The difference in schedule and the fatigue of the transition should be considered in preparation. I think this is an exciting championship and I feel like I’m ready to compete,” says Norwegian’s genius

“I really grew up in a competitive environment. I always liked to compete, not just athletes, but for most of the things I did in my life. I see competition as a Kapana -exciting factor, another element of experience,” he confessed.

“When I win, I try to contribute to something bigger and be part of the sport history. I want a competition where we are all trying to do our best to get good things. If it’s not for competition, I won’t be able to have too much offering for my training, because everyone has a goal in mind. Priority to them.

With a high level of concentration and the obvious goals, the ambition that shows the track leads to achieve the results that, if extended over time, can lead you to mark a period.

“I will say that I am a person who often competes against himself to win but also to defeat records. I am always trying to improve my own personal brand, run faster and better to practice. Although, all that for me is not a goal or a motivation, because the main thing is that I always focus on myself,” he emphasized.

“Obviously, I’m fortunate to have improved most distances. That is always the goal and also the goal for the future, so if a note at 1,500 or 5,000 I will not try to stop the improvement, though it is gathering that record. 2024 in Monaco.

Height training

Norwegian offers a few weeks a year to prepare at the height. Last years have done this in Sierra Nevada, in pomegranate (Spain), located 2,320 meters above sea level.

“I trained most of my life. And we have a plan that is very similar to the last twelve or thirteen -three years or more. Doing it in Sierra Nevada from the quality of perspective is good. The journey is minimal, no schedule and the facilities are sufficient. It’s better than South Africa,” he said.

“We are like that and I say it works well. Often, in our training with our program we are strict and careful with the things we change. But at the same time, we are always looking for improvements, and starting to go to Sierra Nevada instead of going to South Africa has been an improvement,” he said.

For the Norwegian athlete, noticed as it walks on both the outer track and the covered track, there is a huge difference between doing it one way or another.

“On the caps everything seems a bit more intense. And it’s a bit more intriguing when you make movements because the result can be complicated if you don’t make the right movement at the right time. So for me the tactic is very important. Let’s say that from the latter to the first and it is very important to know when the rhythm will change,” he said.

Character on and off the track

The pride he showed on some occasions led him to have public strife with other athletes. It really sounds like one two years ago with Scotsman Josh Kerr, who took gold to 1,500 of the World Cups of Budapest 2023.

“I never look at my competitors and I told you that I will beat you. I will try to do my best and I think if I give a hundred percent of the course I will win. But if I can’t do it, sometimes you can lose, so everything is a thing that is a point of view and focus. I think if everyone does one hundred percent, most people, not only to be successful.

“What I’m clear is that I believe in myself, I believe in my preparation and I always try to perform at the maximum,” said Norwegian, who after Nanjing covered by the World Cup track will begin to prepare the external air season even if a clear competition calendar has not been determined.

“I haven’t identified my plan yet but many kapana -exciting careers. I want to prioritize and fix a tag -work as much as possible. For the future I will start to rise and can run something on the pavement but so far I have centered on the track,” he said.

“1,500 meters is my main test and my favorite, so it will always be my main goal, even though I am also trying to participate in 5,000 and 3,000. Whenever these two distances do not affect 1,500 I will try to do. I am lucky enough to see many years in the future.

After the Olympic Games of Tokyo, Jakob, along with his brothers Henrik and Filipinos, decided to do without his father Gjart, as coach, accused of “physical violence” of them. A few hours later, in Budapest 2023, Jakob went up to the podium to collect 1,500 silver and his side, along with copper, Narve Gilje Nordas was, trained by his father, where he reduced his personal brand nearly seven seconds.

“I have a great team around me and we are all trying to improve everything we can, whether nutrition or rest, but we are also careful and we do not forget why we are in the position we are in. We rely on simple principles around race and training. And for us it is very important not to change it too much,” he said.

“Obviously that is the whole basis of our performance. I want to have a pretty open mind when it comes to these things. And don’t give anything that has been granted. I want to run freshness. And win. That is always”
