Webb III’s march to Valencia leaves 100,000 euros in the UCAM

Date:

If this summer UCAM can target players with many other suitors, such as the cases of the centers Pustovyi and Diop, who both want to continue their careers in Murcia, it is also because UCAM receives extraordinary amounts (that is, which I did not count on) this summer. The first, that of the surprising departure of Augusto Lima, who is currently still without a team, for which the club hoarded 40,000 euros. It’s already been spent in Murcia, but that money is in the college club box. And now the surgery that UCAM has agreed to take James Webb III off the scoreline so that he can freely sign for Valencia Basket, which paid 100,000 in return for the favor.

Having followed the conventional path by which a player registered with the score is signed, i.e. the path for which the interested club makes an offer to the ACB and the club with its rights has five days to match and thus retaining the player, Webb III would not have cost the Levantines a cent. Because UCAM would not match the offer, which is about 400,000 euros in salary for Webb III, an amount that the club led by Alejandro Gómez cannot afford and that it certainly would not do, since it had agreed to the player allows him to fulfill his wish to leave and he has already occupied his two extra-Community places with Trice and Anderson.

However, Valencia was urged to ease the operation as much as possible, as Webb III had other succulent offerings, in the case of the Russian Zenit who will basically continue to train Spain’s Xavi Pascual. In this way, the waiting days and any possibility that the UCAM has matched an offer to keep the player and negotiate a departure to another club are removed.

Webb III thus fulfills his ambition to play in the Euroleague. The player, who said goodbye to his social networks and thanked UCAM and his fans for so much given this year and a half, also received a tribute video from the Murcian club.

Those €100,000, which will allow UCAM to aim higher on their transfers than they could get without them, are also the same additional amount that Valencia is demanding from Barcelona in their first offer to sign Nikola Kalinic, former player of the ‘taronja’. ‘ and over whom he has the right of first refusal.
