The Spanish Nuria Iturriozwho started the last day with a big chance of winning, could not ‘put‘ icing ’on his participation in Big Green Egg Open (Netherlands)from the European Women’s Golf Circuit, closes in third position, two shots behind the Swedish Anna Nordqvistwho raised the trophy, with a cumulative score of 281 (-7).
The Mallorcan, with four wins as a professional (three on the European Tour), started the final round just two strokes behind Nordqvist, with 9 wins at the LPGA (American Circuit, three of them ‘majors’ ) and three in European. They finished at the same distance, after signing the same field pair (72).
And Iturrioz put pressure on the Norwegian from the start, by making a ‘birdie’ on the first hole. But the Mallorcan was punched in 3 of the first three ‘bogeys’ of his trip, when the Norwegian started winning shots on the field.
Ultimately, a good third spot was shared by Iturrioz, surpassed only by Nordqvist and Austrian Sarah Schober, the latter being second overall after keeping the pulse on a Norwegian who led in his favor with a decisive birdie on the 17th hole.
Of the remaining Spanish women, Elia Folch finished twenty -three, with 290 strokes; Laura Gómez and Mireia Prat shared thirty -five seats, with 293; Carmen Alonso, 54 with 297; and Marta Pérez was 63, with 302.
