Padraig McCrory’s Hand Injury That Wasn’t an April Fools’ Joke As ‘Hammer’ Smelts Frustration

Date:

Padraig Macror wanted his picture in the actor to be on his right, to be April Fools’ Day.

The Belfast undefeated weight revealed his injury on Friday after breaking out a brain quarrel with Tommy McCarthy.

McCormie was helping McCarthy prepare for his next match with Chris Pelham Smith when he sustained a fracture.

And he grabbed it tight with the latest blow to the fray on Thursday.

The 33-year-old had plans to make a comeback in the coming weeks against a leading opponent in a fight that could pave the way to winning a world title by the end of the year.

But those plans are now on hold.

“I fought the tribe and helped them fight for two weeks,” McCour told Belfast Live.

“It came in the last round and it was the last hit. I raised my hand to the right and at first thought it was turned off, but then I quickly realized it was even worse.

“I didn’t think it would break, but they said it at the hospital.

“And now I have a fracture in my right hand, which bothers me a lot.

“I agreed to fight the opponent and it was a big fight. The date and venue didn’t end, but that would have happened. He was a former world champion and would have been a decent classification belt.

“The actor will be in six weeks. They look at him in four weeks to see where we are. But in the worst case, six weeks.”

“In the meantime, I’ll try to keep fit and when the actor comes out, I’ll be ready to leave in three or four weeks.

McCrore – who last year had a big fight with former world champion David Lemieux – is hoping to be back “sometime around May or June” and then go to a big fight this summer in Valley, Falls Park.

“I hope the fight you accepted in Faily’s favour will be postponed, but now they may want to make other plans,” McCurry said.

“But failure would be a great opportunity for both of us, so let’s hope it happens anyway.

“My last meeting was on the 5th of November and it has been frustrating ever since. My name has been heard for some great fights but never done.

“It’s such a shame that you are on the verge of something big and then it happens. The fight I had to fight would give me a world title fight.

“I just have to be positive. I hope Fei comes, I’m going to fight a huge fight. I’ll be happy to be cornered for a world title.”

“We will wait and see.”
