Barcelona Sarah GallegoSpanish record holder of 400m hurdlesadmitted that he was “a bit nervous” in the first series of Oregon World Cupbut added that he felt a “good run” and was pleased that he was in the top four and qualified for the semi-finals of the world championships.
“Unlike all other races of the year, now I’m a bit nervous, insecure and angrybut then I felt good running in spite of everything, not with the best feelings over the fence but I am among the first four, in the semifinals and proud to compete with the biggest ones”, commented Gallego.
The 400m hurdles is a “very personal event, where everyone has their own rhythm”, which is why he didn’t focus on American Sydney McLaughlin, Olympic champion and world record holder, who ran to his right.
“Sydney, for me, is not a very good reference -he admitted- because I’m not at his level, but I’m excited to be with the Olympic champion and world record holder”.
Regarding Wednesday’s semifinals, he said: “I’m fine tomorrow I will give the last plus that I can give in the last meters, and want to see what can come out of me, but I don’t want to put more pressure on myself than there is, but to enjoy myself and leave everything on the path”.
