The new signing of City of Manchester, Erling Hallandwas “terrified” in front of goal, his colleague said Phil Fodenbacking the Norwegian striker to quickly adjust to life in England and become a key player in the Premier League champions’ setup.
Haaland, who joined City from Borussia Dortmund on a five-year contract last month, showed a glimpse of his goalscoring progress with a poacher strike in a 1-0 pre-season win over Bayern Munich early in the season.
The signing of the 22-year-old also ends City’s quest to replace their all-time top goalscorer Sergio Aguero after the Argentine striker moved to Barcelona on a free transfer last year.
“He’s a great addition to the team, he makes everyone laugh and he’s humble, which is important when you come into a team,” Foden told Sky Sports on Thursday. “He’s hungry to achieve things with us which can only mean great things.
“In front of goal he’s scary. He’ll be in a completely different league (with) faster football, so it might take him a bit to get used to it, but I’m sure once he’s in his groove he’ll be unstoppable.
“He is very similar to Aguero, Haaland also has all kinds of shots. If we can get the ball to him in the right places, it will be very important for us this year.”
City, who face FA Cup holders Liverpool in the Community Shield on Saturday, begin their Premier League title defense with a trip to West Ham United on August 2. 7.
