2-1: Celta lost at Braga and are still winless

Date:

Celta de Vigo extended their doubts with their defeat against Braga (2-1) and are still winless in the preseason, in a match where they showed defensive deficiencies, some players like Solari and Baeza missed a new chance to convince Coudet and Espanyol International Iago Aspas did not miss his goal date.

While waiting for the long-awaited reinforcements to arrive for the attack line, Eduardo “Chacho” Coudet tested what could be his starting defense against Espanyol, the same one he used last year with the only new thing being Unai Núñez instead of the Mexican Néstor. Araujo.

And the excentral did not have an easy debut in the Celta shirt. Javi Galán’s offensive nature forced him to be aware behind the winger, again his team’s highlights. Unai suffered, once, against French striker Simón Banza, scorer of Braga’s first goal after Celta’s defensive mismatch and poor clearance by Óscar Rodríguez.

Before the former Lens striker opened the scoring, the Galician team had a clear chance to take the lead but Matheus took Baeza’s shot from the ground, struggling to stay in the squad. This is far from Coudet’s requirement.

The Argentine coach confirmed that his team still needs to improve a lot. Either quality reinforcements arrive or Celta will struggle. Coudet let his relatives catch a glimpse of it. Only Galán, a nightmare for the Portuguese defense, and Cervi were injured on the left side. Solari, whose sports management tried to terminate the contract without success, hardly contributed, like Óscar.

It’s true that Celta managed to equalize before the break -Hugo Mallo missed an empty goal after a good cross from Galán -, but the best chance was for a Braga who feared every time he set foot on the rival place: Iván Villar deflected several shots from the front and Banza hit a double in several stages of the first act.

They continued to threaten Artur Jorge’s team, who tested Iván Villar as soon as they resumed, as fast as the reflexes because he was unsure of stopping the ball. The goal, however, was scored by the average for Celta, Iago Aspas.

The striker has scored as many goals as his team have played this summer. In the 49th minute he took advantage of a gift from the Portuguese goalkeeper to celebrate his recent contract extension.

The clash was even and both enjoyed the opportunities. Braga didn’t know how to exploit their rival’s defensive mistakes; el Celta is the tireless career of Javi Galán. A flurry of changes caused the rhythm to drop, although Aspas almost capitalized on an error by the centre-back when the ball came out to break the tie.

In the 80th minute, winger Kevin Vázquez made a head-up mistake against Thiago Sá, after a great assist from Aspas. And shortly after Rodrigo Gomes, after leaving Carlos Domínguez and Aidoo, proved the victory. Swedberg, clearly offside, hit the post two minutes later.
